Incredible! I came right off the street and took the one-week stonesetting class. I was amazed at the fact that 5 days later I had set so many rings! I decided to take the 12-week Graduate Bench Jeweler Course. 2 weeks before the end of class, an upscale jewelry store was eager to hire me to work alone in their store! Blaine Lewis and Kevin Wood are truly gifted teachers who more than generously share mountains of knowledge, techniques, tricks, and laughs. This course was just outstanding. I highly recommend both experienced and inexperienced people to learn this craft at this school.

I really appreciated the positive reinforcement from the teachers. I felt comfortable when they would answer my questions in such a way that was neither intimidating or hard to understand. Ill recommend this school to anyone and I will definitely be back. Thank you New Approach!

When I came to NASJ, I had never set at a bench or done any real repairs on jewelry. After 8 weeks of intense training, I was able to bench test with an employer and get the job! This accomplishment far exceeded any hopes I had when I enrolled. The teaching techniques used by Blaine and Kevin break down the most complicated projects and make them manageable. The more I learned and experience, the more my confidence grew, and I knew that this was definitely the school for me. This school not only taught me how to work with metal and gems, but it prepared me for the real world and working in a fast pace shop. Thank you Blaine Lewis and Kevin Wood for sharing all your time, patience, and knowledge.

Blaine, I really enjoyed your class and I have already used many of your techniques in my everyday operations. (They really work.) The price of the class is more than made up for by not breaking stones during setting! That does make cents...:-)
It also has given me the confidence to tackle jobs I would otherwise have turned away. For example, a channel set emerald ring I completed today. So I thank you over & over and would be happy to add my name to your growing list of references.

I've been making custom jewelry for 20 years, yet I still learned many new techniques, as well as several clever time-saving tricks I can use right away. Your teaching style and live video presentations are excellent; far better than anything I've experienced before. It was well worth the time and money spent because of all the time and effort it will save me! Plan on me for another class in the future.

I have been making jewelry for 25 years, had a trade shop for 15 and have taken classes from one end of the country to the other from the big names to the no names. If you are serious I would highly recommend Blaine Lewis at New Approach School for Jewelers. The number of stones you will set, the range of styles, the techniques that you learn both new and old make this the most comprehensive setting class I have taken.

If you are serious about stone setting as a career there is no better place to go than New Approach School under Blaine Lewis. Before taking the course I had 11 years bench experience and had taken several setting courses in Europe, New Approach blew them out of the water!Since taking the course my speed and quality have increased dramatically. The first day alone was worth my trip from Ireland, the rest of the week just got better and better.

I have been in the jewelry business over 25 years. I have taken many classes and Blaine's method of teaching is the best I have yet to experience bar none! He uses state of the art video cameras to bring the student down to just about the microscopic level. You can actually see the graver carving minute curls of metal from the piece on the video screen. He offers you his bench tips that he has honed and refined over the years. He supplies you with everything you need for the class and offers a guarantee that you will be satisfied. If universities would give you that they would probably be out of business. I got more bang for my buck than any previous class I had taken anywhere!

Blaine is a knowledgeable, enthusiastic, yet patient teacher whose method of close-up camera visuals and verbal explanations combined with hands on setting practice can give any student the opportunity to succeed at this class. I personally use the information gained from Blaine's class on a daily basis in my work.

I would wholeheartedly recommend The New Approach School for the professional goldsmith and metals students alike. I have taken Blaine's course and have also brought him to The Savannah College of Art and Design as a Visiting Artist for our Jewelry students. The response from the students was simply overwhelming. Blaine's approach to teaching is relaxed, stimulating, very clear and understandable.
