New Approach School for Jewelers uses innovative visual teaching methods that accelerate the learning curve for our students. We use live demonstrations magnified on video screens to help students see precisely what our instructors see. This enhances our instructors’ ability to clearly communicate the most intricate details. Students are also taught with 3-D animations and illustrations to provide extreme clarity and detail. These teaching methods enable our students to quickly grasp and apply what they are shown at a faster and more natural pace than other programs would allow.
Students spend the majority of the time at their bench applying the techniques that they are taught during the demonstrations, lectures, class discussions, and reading assignments. Informative handouts, short-answer quizzes, and written tests are also used for aiding and evaluating each students progress; however, their primary assessment is based on project evaluations of their craftsmanship and applied skills.
